MURAL & PAINTING
Hill Landry
Hill Landry, a local muralist, applies bold color and shape to Louisiana reptilia to emphasize scale in the living rooms and play with the unique square window pattern on our main accent wall.
MURAL
Antonia Zennaro
@antoniazennaro
Zennaro’s photo-based mobile reflects CastleDay’s location on Japonica Street, referencing nearby bridges, trains, and waterways. “Japonica” nods to a sunken ship and local plants like Magnolia japonica. The site’s past as the Louisiana SPCA appears through a few furry cameos and lyrics to Alan Toussaint's old LASPCA jingle.
SCREENPRINTED MOBILE
Zac Maras
@zmarasart
Local artist Zac Maras painted cutouts of staple Louisiana fish species, rendered in his signature style, emerge from the depths with vibrant motion. For a backdrop, he artistically adds Louisiana’s sea, river, and swamp waters in all their shifting tones and colors.
MURAL & PAINTING
Jess C.X
@jessc.x
Inspired by Henry Fisk’s meandering river flow maps and their impact on migratory bird paths, multimedia artist Jess C. X symbolizes that relationship in her tufted works. These pieces depict silhouettes of extinct migratory birds, seemingly flying over winding river systems that are constantly shifting through time.
TUFTED PAINTINGS
Weapy Weaver
Around mid-March, it is impossible to ignore the yellow flowers cropping up from overgrown vines atop New Orleans houses. Here, Catherine Goll (Weapy Weaver) plays with dimension as she recreates this classic New Orleans image through fabric and weave.
